         Die HIM-Sektion ACID-II konnte erfolgreich ein neues Arbeitsprinzip, insbesondere für Elektronenkühler und im Allgemeinen für elektrostatische Generatoren, demonstrieren. Dieses Prinzip beruht auf der potentiellen freien Erzeugung von elektrischer Energie durch Gasturbinen, wodurch es ermöglicht wird, skalierbare 600 kV-Beschleunigungseinheiten mit kontinuierlicher Längsfokussierung zu bauen. Um im nächsten Schritt dieses Prinzip auf die Hochenergiekühlung von Antiprotonen bei FAIR in Anwendung bringen zu können, müssen zusätzliche Tests unter voller Spannung durchgeführt werden.

         Solche Spannungen erfordern einen Druckbehälter mit mehreren bar Überdruck auf dem Gerät, das Gegenstand dieser Ausschreibung ist. Die (horizontalen) Querabmessungen des Druckbehälters entsprechen in einem Maßstab von 1:1 dem Kühler bei FAIR. Die vertikale Abmessung hat etwa den Maßstab 1:4. Diese Experimente erlauben es daher, bei FAIR auf das Gerät im Vollmaßstab zu extrapolieren.
